This is my most important vote, ever. During this messy present, it may be the last time I have the right to vote as an African American woman and the fact that my expiration date is nearing based on statistical data.
I took my sweet time completing my ballot. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to the top of the ballot because I know how important our state and local legislators are to the well-being of the communities in which we live.
Prior to receiving my ballot, I took every opportunity to hear and see candidates and to explore their past records.
When I was not sure about propositions, I didn’t just guess. I took time to learn as much as I could, and I relied on those in the know who I trust to tell me what they knew about judges and others on various boards.
I feel good about the seriousness with which I completed my ballot. If it is my last opportunity to vote, I gave it my best.
Well, I sure hope it isn’t your last opportunity. Afraid that I might forget to cross a t or dot an i that would result in having my vote thrown out, I am waiting until election day.
Gwen,
We are taking time to complete our ballots this evening. I’m relishing the opportunity to vote for an African American women for President. However, it’s nearly unfathomable that ” this could be our last opportunity to vote” is even a consideration! But it truly is! The seriousness of this election are HUGE!! Vote people, vote!!
Yes, there is an urgency this year that we’ve not experienced for a while. People are afraid to just drop their ballots in the mail. We’re taking them to the Post Office and hoping that the ballots get to the right place on time. Regardless of the results, a lot of people are doing their best to make their votes count.
I received my ballot in the mail. I voted and placed my ballot in the official secure and locked ballot box outside my neighborhood library. One of my best friends voted and mailed her ballot. I hope this is not our last time to vote and we will have many more years but agree this election is very serious.
I think we’re all being much more mindful of voting and securing the safety of our ballots. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m sure others have similar experiences.
